PYRENEAN ECONOMY: Promoting cross-border forestry employment
The Forest Sciences Center of Catalonia (CTFC) participates in the project PYREMPFOR.
PYREMPFOR is a cross-border project which addresses the common challenge of the partners in developing the Pyrenean rural areas through the valorisation of their local resources: the forests.
As general objective, the project intends to promote cross-border forest jobs, mobilising diverse actors and implementing European systems of qualifications for innovative forestry training in order to improve competences and generate economy at local level.
The main expected results will be: increased capacity to mobilise young and adults towards forestry, increased capacity of forestry trainers all over the Pyrenean and some progress towards the mutual recognition of professional qualifications in the field.
The main beneficiaries will be: vocational forestry training students, adults in continuous training, trainers from forestry centers, local public authorities, forestry works companies, work safety actors, forestry syndicates and the general population.
The cross-border exchanges and working camps for forest works will be key to achieving the objectives, in order to implement the innovative educational initiatives, of EU-standard forestry training standards such as EFESC, of common interest for the training centers of all the Pyrenean (with a strong transferability component) in order to improve the job acceptance of workers.
The project has been 65% cofinanced by the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) through the Interreg V-A Spain-France-Andorra programme (POCTEFA 2014-2020). POCTEFA aims to reinforce the economic and social integration of the French–Spanish–Andorran border. Its support is focused on developing economic, social and environmental cross-border activities through joint strategies favouring sustainable territorial development. (UE Regional Policy)
